Thank you for your interest in River City Christian School (RCCS). The admissions process provides an opportunity for parents and prospective students to gain a fuller representation of River City Christian School, its academic program, its campus, and faculty. The admission process also provides information to the Admissions Screening Committee for evaluation of the prospective student’s needs. The following information is offered to guide parents through the admissions process. Please call the Admissions Director at 384-0297, for additional information.
The Admissions Process
- Information - Call the Admissions Director at 210-384-0297 for a telephone conference and further information. During the telephone conference, the Admissions Director may determine if RCCS has the ability to meet the prospective student's needs.
- Consultation Appointment and Parent Interview - It it seems that RCCS may be a good fit for the prospective student, parents may set up a Consultation Appointment with the Admissions Director. During the Consultation Appointment, parents meet with the Admissions Director to discuss the philosphy of RCCS; tour the campus, and, if possible, meet with teachers and observe the classroom.
- Consultation Packet - During the Consultation Appointment, the completed consultation packet information must be submitted to the Admissions Director along with a $25.00 (non-refundable) fee. The packet is available on this website and can be downloaded or may be picked up from the school office at 5810 Blanco Rd., San Antonio, Texas 78216.
- Psychological Evaluation - If the prospective student has a diagnosis, a copy of a current (not more than 3 years old) psychological/psychiatric and/or medical evaluation must be submitted during the Consultation Appointment.
- Student Interview/Classroom Visit - The prospective student is interviewed by the Admissions Director and upon the Admissions Director's approval, is scheduled for a full-day classroom visit to experience the RCCS academic program. (During the summer months, student classroom visits are suspended).
- Admissions Screening Committee Evaluation - After the Student Interview and Classroom Visit, the Admissions Screening Committee meets to determine the needs of the prospective student and to determine if RCCS would be a good fit. The parent is notified of the decision as soon as possible.
- Enrollment Packet - After the Admissions Screening Committee meets and the prospective student is accepted, the parent completes the Enrollment Packet and submits it to the Assistant Principal. All tuition and financial arrangements are made through the Assistant Principal. The payment of required registration and enrollment fees constitues the acceptance of the prospective student at RCCS and assures a place in the appropriate classroom.
- Assessment Testing - An assessment test may be scheduled for the student in order to evaluate grade level.
- Probationary Period - A sixty (60) school-day probationary period is in effect from the first day of a student's attendance. Students may be dismissed during this period if all enrollment forms, transcripts, and required records have not been received by the RCCS school registrar within the thirty-day probationary period.
