River City Christian School was birthed by our loving God in the heart of Pastor William Nuñez of River City Fellowship. Having previous experience teaching children with special needs, Pastor Nuñez made a promise to himself that if he ever pastored a church, he would open a school for children who learned differently.

River City Christian School opened its doors in 1994 in the home of Stuart and Rosemary Craig, members of River City Fellowship. The next year the school moved to an abandoned one-room church in La Vernia, Texas.

Since 1994, River City Christian School has experienced tremendous blessings from God and has grown from 8 students in 1994, to more than 140 students in 2005. Over the past 10 years God's love and grace has blessed the school with buildings, teacher and student desks, supply donations, and funds for operational costs.

God provided River City Christian School with a profound blessing in 2000. A foundation that the school had approached for funds offered the school an opportunity to lease a 32,000 sq. ft. school facility on 14 acres for a resonable fee. On August 12, 2000 River City Christian School officially moved to 5810 Blanco Road.

Pastor William Nuñez prophetically spoke the physical address in the form of Isaiah 58:10, "And if you give yourself to the hungry, and satisfy the desire of the afflicted, then your light will rise in the darkness, and your gloom will become like midday."

Donations from individuals and foundations have provided a means to create a computer lab, offer scholarships, renovate the school chapel and provide technology that benefits, students, teachers and parents.

In 2002, River City Christian School started its first athletic team and joined the Texas Christian Athletic League with six man football and track teams. That same year the school became fully accredited by the International Christian Accrediting Association, ICAA. In 2003, God blessed River City Christian School by answering a nine-year long prayer - Outreach Pediatric Therapy set up a clinic on campus to provide much needed speech, physical and occupational therapy for the students. Currently, the therapists provide more than 100 therapeutic visits a week.

Since 1994, God has miraculously provided for the precious students of River City Christian School. The administration and staff continue to see Isaiah 58:10 come to life before their eyes. The administration and staff of River City Christian School are committed to pursue healing and restoration for every child that walks through its doors. River City Christian School believes these children have a calling on their lives and that their "differences" open a unique door for them to know and express God to a lost and hopeless world.
